Common questions

Why is background recording sometimes missing?

Check Always and Precise Location permission. While Using may let an active location session continue in the background, but does not guarantee relaunch. Force-quitting, restarting, low power and iOS scheduling can cause gaps. A recorded hour in the timeline does not mean continuous movement.

Why does a small route appear while I stay home?

Indoor GPS can drift. FogAway filters fixes using accuracy, speed and sustained movement, but cannot eliminate all errors. Short tracks are not precise measurements. Edit Fog can correct the revealed area while keeping the original records.

How do I edit a place name?

Open Log, select a segment, and edit the start or end place separately. Custom names are preserved; automatic names follow the app language.

How do I import, back up or export?

Data & Backup exports your records as one archive of standard GPX files, imports an archive exported by FogAway, keeps backups in your own iCloud Drive and restores from a selected backup. Without a subscription, Export My Data remains at the paywall. Backup restore is not automatic cross-device sync.

Can I cancel a video export?

Yes. The export screen shows a preview, stage and progress, with a Cancel action. Map preparation uses Apple Maps, so network conditions and route extent affect the time needed.

How do I enable notifications after denying them?

Open Settings → Notifications to see the current status and open iOS Settings. The app does not request notifications at first launch.

How do trials, cancellation and restore work?

Monthly, annual and lifetime plans provide the same features. Eligible annual subscribers receive a 7-day trial; monthly and lifetime plans have no trial. Subscriptions renew automatically and can be cancelled in iOS Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. Lifetime purchases do not renew. On a new device, use the purchasing Apple Account and choose Restore Purchases. This restores access, not tracks; restore your own backup separately.

Requires iPhone with iOS 17 or later. Location access is needed to clear fog.
